Artist Statement

My practice draws upon the emptiness of the Internet. While the Internet is brimming with synthetic sex, love, culture, violence, joy and sorrow I can’t help but be captivated by the emptiness of synthetic life.
Many of the great abstract painters of the 20th century predicated their work on the beauty of colour and music. In the third decade of the 21st century, however, colour and music are a given online, losing their significance as tools which push and subvert culture.
My work is an attempt to regain the importance of colour as a presence which permeates between the polarization of online experience and its isolating nature. 20th-century artists utilised colour to examine human experience, and my work attempts to reflect upon synthetic human experience.
