Artist Statement

IMG_2695.jpeg

My practice draws upon the emptiness of the Internet. While the Internet is brimming with synthetic sex, love, culture, violence, joy and sorrow I can’t help but be captivated by the emptiness of synthetic life.

I am inspired by 20th century modern artists, such as Rothko, who seem to explore the beauty and depth of human experience through colour. In the third decade of the 21st century, however, colour is a given online, losing its' significance as a tool which pushes and subverts culture.

My work is an attempt to regain the importance of colour as a presence which permeates between the polarization of online experience and its isolating nature. 20th-century artists utilised colour to examine human experience, and my work attempts to reflect upon synthetic human experience.
